Environmental Corporate Headshots:
Sands Capital Ventures

Arlington, VA

Our goal was to take headshots that would appeal to entrepreneurs.

For the Ventures branch of Sands Capital, the client wanted their photos to speak to the entrepreneurial, start-up culture of their target audience. We needed to avoid anything that felt country club or homogenous white men in Navy blazers.

Prior to the shoot, my stylist and I did a walkthrough of their headquarters, taking pictures of all the rooms and floors to get a feel of where we could achieve our brand goals. From the walkthrough, we presented our recommendations for various sets we could create for a diverse collection of portraits.

We started the day with the stylist on hand to give wardrobe feedback to those who needed it. Then we got to work! It was important to capture each person’s personality with open and welcoming body language. We also set up a solid white background for the few shots that we needed to grab for the Investments side of the business.

The final collection of images has each person in 3-5 different environments. When the final images appear together, the client can be strategic about pose and background to keep the webpage creative with varying textures.

Here are some select shots from our half-day together.

“SHALA! These are so good!!! We’re gonna have such a hard time picking out the ones we like.”
